QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

What is Measure A2?

Measure A2 is a local school bond measure placed on the November 8th  2022 ballot to improve American Canyon school facilities.

What will Measure A2 do?

  • Provide classrooms, facilities, and technology needed to support high quality instruction in math, science, engineering, and technology.

  • Repair or replace deteriorating roofs, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and electrical systems where needed.

  • Update older school facilities so they meet the same academic and safety standards as newer schools.

  • Improve student safety and campus security systems including emergency communications systems, security cameras, and alarms.

American Canyon schools vary in age and condition. How will Measure A2 address these needs?

Each school has been evaluated and there is a specific plan to make essential repairs and upgrades at each site. Schools with the greatest needs are the highest priority. Improved science facilities, libraries and updated classrooms are a priority.

Will any of the funds from Measure A2 be used for Napa area schools?

No. All money from Measure A2 will be spent repairing and improving local schools in American Canyon only. Napa voters will vote on a separate measure for Napa schools.

How much will Measure A2 cost the average homeowner?

The average homeowner will pay $86 a year (about $7 per month).

How can we be sure that Measure A2 funds will be spent effectively?

Measure A2 requires a clear system of accountability, including a project list detailing exactly how the money will be used, an independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee to monitor expenditures, and audits to ensure all funds are spent properly. Most importantly, the measure requires that all money raised by Measure A2 will stay in the American Canyon community to benefit local children.

Previous bond measures overpromised and underdelivered. How is this measure different?

There is a very specific plan for each school in American Canyon. Every penny raised by this measure will stay in American Canyon and will be audited by an oversight committee made up of American Canyon residents.
